Jeffrey Sacks, Chief Investment Strategist and Counselor of Betteredge Capital, has a career spanning 37 years within the banking and finance sector. He has worked as an investment analyst, portfolio manager of unit trusts and hedge funds, chief investment officer, research head and strategist. He has led teams and developed robust investment processes. His experience covers all asset classes, all regions, and all product structures.
In his 11 years with Citi Private Bank ending in April 2024, he worked within the capital markets, strategy and investment management teams. As Head of Investment Strategy in EMEA for over 8 years, he was a voting member of the Global Investment Committee, developed EMEA ideas and content, and communicated the house view internally and with clients. Jeffrey also led the EMEA Regional Investment Committee that focused on implementing the house view with appropriate products. He represented Citi as a keynote speaker, panelist and moderator for internal and external events, and on CNBC and Bloomberg radio and television.
Jeffrey began his career as an investment analyst, focusing on undervalued opportunities in the UK, before becoming an Asian equity portfolio manager with a consistently outstanding track record. He later broadened to manage emerging market equity and debt portfolios. While living in Hong Kong for eight years, he established the Hong Kong office and ran the investment team for a Swedish institution. After returning to London and before joining Citi, he was co-founder and co-managing partner of an Asian hedge fund business with offices in London and Singapore.
Jeffrey was born in Johannesburg, South Africa, and immigrated to London in 1977. He qualified with honors from Manchester University (UMIST) with a BSc Honors in Management Sciences, and from London Business School (LBS) with a Masters in Business Administration. He is a member of the CFA Society of the UK, a regular lecturer in investment strategy and portfolio construction at LBS, and enjoys sport, travel, and spending time with his family.
